Unidentified criminals once again threw challenge before the law enforcing agencies when they shot dead a police officer of New Delhi in Chitrakot district on Thurday night.
The officer was attacked when he was trying to raid a locality to arrest an accused who was wanted in a theft case. local Chitrakot police claimed to have registered a case against unknown persons and all out efforts were made to trace out the accused.
Reports said that one Prem Chandra, a native of Bilhari hamlet of Bahilpurwa in Chitrakot was working in the house of one Mukesh Kumar Garg, a resident of Rohini Outer at Delhi. Few days back, Mukesh Kumar lodged a report against Prem Chandra with the local Begumpur police station alleging that the accused had stolen Rs 8 lakh in cash from his house and escaped. The cops registered a case under Section 381 IPC (case crime no-155\\13) and probe was handed over to Jaibhagwan Sharma, an Assistant Sub-inspector of Begumpur police station.
Reports further said that on Thursday night Jaibhagwan Sharma along with his team members reached Chitrakot and without informing or taking local police in confidence they raided the village of Prem Chandra at Balipurwa to arrest him. However, the matter took an ugly turn when some unknown assailants suddenly opened fire at the police team critically injuring Jaibhagwan Sharma. His colleagues immediately rushed the victim to nearest hospital at Satna in Madhya Pradesh but the doctors pronounced him dead upon arrival. later constable Gauri Shankar, who was accompanying Jaibhagwan Sharma lodged a report in the matter. District police chief of Chitrakot, KB Singh when contacted he said that they were making all out efforts to trace out the killers.
Meanwhile one person was also murdered under mysterious circumstances in Etawah. Reports said that Ram Prakash, a resident of labhera hamlet of Mandaiya in Rajepur went to sleep at tubewell situated in his fields on Thursday night. When he not returned home on Friday morning, his family members went to search him and were shocked to recover his body lying in pool of blood in the fields. He seems to be brutally hacked to death some time late on Thursday night. A case was registered in this regard by the police and efforts were made to trace out the killers and lay a trap on them.
