In a sensational incident in Barabanki, a minor girl was set ablaze by her jilted lover afterwhich the victim succumbed to her injuries on Tuesday morning. A case was registered and the victim’s body was sent for autopsy.
As per reports, 16-year-old Rekha (name changed) of Chaukhandi hamlet of Safdarganj (Barabanki) was harassed by her neighbour identified as Amit (24). Amit threatened the girl either to accept him as her lover or be ready to face the consequences. The matter took an ugly turn when the girl visited her friend’s house in the same locality on Monday evening. Amit barged inside the house and dragged her out. He doused her with kerosene and set her afire in public view. The victim was rushed to District Hospital in critical condition where she succumbed on Tuesday morning.
The victim’s father, in his complaint, alleged the involvement of the accused’ mother in the crime. The police said that the girl was in touch with another local youth which could have led Amit to commit the crime.
Circle Officer Rajesh Yadav, who visited the spot, said, “The girl had an argument with the accused after which he set her ablaze. All angles will be probed in the case,”
Meanwhile in Kannauj, a 24-year-old woman was raped by two men in a moving car in Jalalabad area on Monday evening. The victim along with her mother were heading to the district jail to meet her brother, who was a rape accused. As they neared the jail, four men in a car offered them a lift. As per the complaint filed by the victim, two of the four accused raped her at gunpoint. A case was registered and the victim was sent for medical examination.
Elsewhere in Muzaffarnagar, a 16-year-old girl was abducted from Adarsh Mandi police station area by Raju on May 29 and raped for 15 days. The minor had gone outto ease herself when she was abducted and taken to Punjab and raped for days. A case was registered against Raju, his brother Vijay, mother Prema Devi and Avtar Singh following a complaint by the victim’s family.Efforts are on to trace the accused.
In another incident, a 15-year-old mentally challenged girl was raped by a man at Barla Jat village in neighbouring Shamli district on Monday. Sonu (21) committed the crime when the victim was alone at her house. A case was registered against the accused and efforts were on to trace him.
