Miscreants continued to violate minor girls in the state with two more cases being reported from Maharajganj and Siddharthnagar respectively. However, the most shocking incident took place in Sitapur, where a man was booked for raping his 35-year-old daughter along with two of his friends.
Additional SP (South) in Sitapur, Martand Prakash Singh said that the victim was raped by her father in Kamlapur area last Sunday. “She filed a complaint the next day after which one of the accused was arrested while, the victim’s father and another aide were on the lam,” th senior officer said.
“The woman got married about 15 years ago and has a son. In later years, she separated from her husband and has been living with her father since,” the officer said.
last Sunday, the man took his daughter to a fair - an annual feature in Kamlapur. There, he called up his friend Maan Singh and asked him to join them.
The police said that Maan Singh had partnered the woman’s father in a number of crimes in the past. The two men then convinced the victim to ride with them on a motorcycle to the residence of their friend Meraj.
“There, the trio locked her in a room for nearly 18 hours and took turns. The victim somehow managed to escape and reached home and narrated her ordeal to her mother. Her mother ;ater accompanied her to the local police station and lodged a complaint,” the police said.
In November last year, the victim’s father was accused by a village panchayat of having illicit relationship with his daughter. He was arrested but released on bail in February.
Meanwhile in Maharajganj, a 16-year-old girl was raped by the village pradhan belonging to another community which led to communal tension in the area. Heavy police force was deployed to avert further flare-up.
As per reports, the victim was sitting in her house at Purandarpur area when village pradhan Akhtar Khan barged inside her house and raped her. The girl suffered injuries in the process. The victim later informed her family members who called the police and the accused was arrested.
In another incident, a six-year-old girl from Semrawajah hamlet of Chilhiya, had gone to watch a procession on Wednesday night where she was accosted by a local youth who pulled her inside the bushes and raped her. The police was informed and the accused was arrested.
