The victim identified as Neelu (36) of Kisoi village under Sultanpur Ghos police station in Fatehpur was remarried to Raju Yadav of neighbouring Magdipur village. She had two daughters, Sonika (13) and Monika (12) from her first marriage.

Both Raju and Neelu were not at good terms and a fortnight back, Raju had turned Neelu and her daughters including the one and a half year old born to Raju, out of his house. Neelu then started to live with her father.

On Saturday, Neelu along with her daughter left for Raju’s house after they had reconciliation. The police said Raju lured Neelu and her daughter to go along with him to Rai Bareilly for some work. He took them to woods in Unchahar police station area under Rai Bareilly district. Raju then slit Neelu throat after he throw her down on the ground. He also slit the throat of little girl also. He tried to slit the throats of Sonika and Monika also but as they put strong resistance he could not succeed in his plan. The victim girls fled the scene while bleeding. Some villagers spotted the girls who were seeking help and they informed the police about this.

On the basis of statement made by the girls, the police registered a case against Raju and efforts to track him down are on. The Unchahar police station lodged a case in this connection also and the girls were sent to hospital for treatment. Further investigations are on.
