A frontal attack on both PM Modi and CM Akhilesh Yadav

Former Delhi chief minister and Congress’s Chief Ministerial face for 2017 assembly polls made a frontal attack on both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and chief minister Akhilesh Yadav.

She blamed Modi for taking more interest in raising non-important issues and showing no concern for the problems particularly on rising prices of essential commodities while she criticised Yadav on deteriorating law and order and non-development of Uttar Pradesh.

“I don’t agree with Modi who is doing only lips service. He has done nothing for Gau Raksha at the Centre for the past two years. There is a need for gaushalas and other facilities for them but the government has failed to do it”, she said while reacting to comment of Modi on `Gau-Rakshaks’ on Sunday. “I have seen cows wandering on the streets and no one cares for them. For gau raksha (cow protection), cow shelters should be made. They also have the right to live. Something needs to be done on the ground,” she added.

“Modi was only on the talking mode and doing nothing. People are yet to see anything positive of this BJP government,” she further asserted while taking on central government for not fulfilling any of the promises made during poll campaign. Hailing the works done by the UPA government, Dikshit, who was talking to media persons here on Monday afternoon, said the pace of development had stopped in the present regime and it is seen nowhere and same was the case with Uttar Pradesh.

The three times Delhi CM was optimistic that Congress will return to power in UP after 27 years of exile.” The enthusiasm seen among the party workers during our visit to several cities, particular in Varanasi, the PM’s constituency, is a clear picture that people have now decided to give Congress a chance after seeing the governance of other three parties during the past around three decades,” she said. “In the past 27 years, people of the state have seen SP,

BSP and BJP but the state is now among the top five less developed states,” she said, adding that wherever the new Congress team had gone, it got tremendous response from the people.

Dikshit claimed that Congress is preparing a roadmap for UP to attract the youths and other section by promising development in all fields which had lagged during the past 27 years. ``law and order situation had reached to bottom and regular assault on modesty of women including the one made in Bulundhshar is a clear reflection of jungle raj and anarchy in the State”, she quipped while attacking State government. ``The citizens here also facing irregular electric supply, unemployment, no industrial activity in the last 27-years which all give the picture of backwardness of UP during non-Congress’s regime”, she asserted.

Dikshit said that Congress would not go for any pre-poll alliance in the UP polls and remained unresponsive about whether she would contest the polls or not. “ The party leadership would decide on whether I should contest the polls or not,” she said while adding that the Congress assembly candidates would be announced in the coming months as at present screening of the candidates names were underway.

However, the UP CM face was bit uncomfortable, when asked about the humiliating defeat of the Congress candidate in the Moradabad mayor by-polls held recently. “We have lost the polls and in democracy there is win and loss. We have learnt a lesson from this defeat and certainly our Party workers and leaders would rectify their lapses,” she said. In the Moradabad Mayor by-polls, the Congress candidate got only 6000 votes while the winner BJP candidate received over 65,000 votes.
