In two sensational cases, efforts were made to burn a girl alive after sexually exploiting her in Mainpuri while a college girl was hacked to death in Shamli by a jilted lover.
In the first case reported from Mainpuri, a 18-year-old girl was sexually exploited by three youths and later tried to burn her alive after she threatened to report the matter to the police. Reports said that the local public in Kurawali locality of Mainpuri found a girl lying unconscious with more then 50 percent burn injuries on Thursday morning. The victim was rushed to district hospital from where she was referred to Saifai Post-Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences.
On regaining her conscious, she told that Sachin Gupta, Asheesh Gupta aka Pakauri, both residents of Mahajanan locality of Mainpuri and Pancham Singh aka Panchi, a resident of Vedantola locality also from Mainpuri, had tried to burn her alive by torching her after sprinkling kerosene over body. She said that the accused were sexually exploiting her and blackmailing her for last over half a year and when she threatened to brought the matter to the local police if they would not stop her harassment, they tried to kill her. A case has been registered in this regard and efforts were made to nab the accused.
In another case, tension mounted in Shamli district after an 18-year-old girl returning home from college was killed allegedly by jilted lover. Senior officers who rushed to the spot had deployed heavy police force to avert any communal clash. According to report, the victim, who was student of intermediate in a local college was hacked to death with sharp edged weapon by a youth who had made unsuccessful advances to her at Ghar Shayam village in Kandhla police
station area of the district. A case was registered in this regard against Amarpal Gujjar (26) and three other unidentified men. Police also conducted raids to arrest the accused but all of them were found to be absconding from their houses. SP Shamli claimed that security has been tightened in the village and additional police force has been deployed in the area to ease tension.
The brother of the girl and other members of the community had demanded immediate arrest of the accused.
Meanwhile in one another case reported from Muzaffarnagar, a 26-year-old woman was allegedly raped by a man in the Shahpur area. Reports said that Sander Hasan, lured a woman after making promise to marry her. He took her to a secluded place and later raped her. Surprisingly, the father of the accused also threatened the woman with dire consequences if she approached police. A case has been registered against the accused and his father and efforts were made to arrest them.
