In a shocking incident, a pack of stray dogs mauled a nine-year-old boy to death and grievously injured his cousin in Amroha on Monday evening. Shashikant and Krish had accompanied their uncle Devesh Chauhan to the fields when they were attacked.

Devesh was working in the field around 50 metres from the spot where the incident occurred. Suddenly, around ten dogs attacked and started dragging the kids. He quickly rushed to their help as did other farmhands working in nearby fields.

But by that time the boys were rescued, they had already been severely injured. They were immediately rushed to Hasanpur Community Health Centre where doctors declared Shashikant dead and assessing the serious condition of Krish, he was referred to Lala Lajpat Rai Memorial Medical College in Meerut, for advanced treatment.

The incident triggered anger among locals as they complained about stray dogs several times but no action was taken. Later, the aggrieved family of the deceased boy blocked Atrasi road in Hasanpur, demanding compensation from the government. Local BJP MLA Mahendra Singh Khadagvanshi and Hasanpur SDM Sudhir Kumar reached the spot and assured the family of taking up the issue with authorities after which the blockade was lifted.
