Altogether nine students fell ill after drinking contaminated water from a hand pump of a school under Mehnagar police station in Basti on Friday. Reports said that the students of Kasturba Gandhi Awasiya Vidyalaya in Mehnagar area of Basti, started complaining of throat pain and started vomiting as soon that they took water from the hand pump on Friday afternoon. The students, all girls were first rushed to the Community Health Center (CHC) and later shifted to the district hospital. On getting the information, Basic Shiksha Adhikari, Chief Medical Officer and State Minister for Basic Shiksha rushed to the hospital. The condition of girls in now stable according to the local police.
