With a view to bringing transparency in the government working to speed up development, the Project Monitoring Group (PMG) has resolved almost 85 per cent of the cases brought before it for the redressal.

Government records show that out of a total of 322 cases registered on the state’s PMG portal, 274 have been disposed of so far. Incidentally, Uttar Pradesh is the first state in the country to  onboard all the departments concerned and all the district magistrates on the PMG portal.

The utility of this portal can be gauged from the fact that it has resolved many critical cases. The construction of a flyover under the EDFC project in the Jafarpur village of Chandauli district was disposed of. In the Bareilly-Sitapur NH-24 project, the matter regarding shifting of the oldest Hanuman temple in Shahjahanpur has been disposed of keeping in mind public sentiment. Apart from this, the illegal occupation of the main approach road under the Neyli Power Plant was cleared from Bangaria and Gangapurwa villages.

Apart from this, action has been taken on many serious matters following speedy hearing on the portal. These include matters like Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor, Tanda Thermal Power Plant, Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridors and Noida International Airport. “The cases which are currently pending are related to railways, energy, road and highways, civil aviation and communication,” a government official said.

PMG is the institutional arrangement of DPIIT. Its objective is to address the problems of projects worth over Rs 500 crore and remove regulatory hurdles. PMG looks into the unresolved issues of all public-private partnership (PPP) projects and works to expedite approval, policy issues to the sector and remove barriers.
