In a sensational killing in Barabanki, a 7-year-old girl was kidnapped and later brutally murdered by unknown miscreants. The body of the victim was found lying in a pond on Monday morning. Senior officers rushed to the spot and sent the body for post-mortem. Further investigation is on.

Reports said that Ananya Gautam, daughter of Ramesh Gautam of Nasirpur hamlet of Safdarganj in Barabanki, was sleeping with her mother in the open courtyard of the house on Sunday night. Around 11 pm, when her mother woke up she was shocked to see Ananya missing. She searched for her in the house and nearby and raised an alarm. Later the family members along with villagers launched a hunt for Ananya but failed to locate her.

Reports said that on Monday morning, the villagers found the girl’s body lying in a pond in Chandna locality. The victim had injury marks on her eyes and circumstantial evidence suggested that she was kidnapped, strangled and later on her body was thrown in the pond to conceal the crime.

Victim’s father Ramesh Gautam suspected the hands of a local villager, Ajay, in the killing. Gautam said he had a dispute with Ajay after their children scuffled while playing. He suspected that just to avenge the fight between the children, Ajay may have killed his daughter. The cops took Ajay in custody and interrogated him to extract the truth.
