Seven people lost their lives in sever heat as normal life in Uttar Pradesh was severely paralyzed due to prevailing heat wave conditions with Banda recording the highest temperature of 46.4 degree Celsius. The hot wave has led to power crisis as major cities including lucknow, Kanpur, Allahabad, Varanasi, Meerut, Bareilly and Jhansi reporting long outages. No power means no water as majority of cities water pumps are used to carry water in houses.
“The temperature is not likely to change in central and eastern UP while there would be a dust storm in parts of western UP,” Met official said lucknow recorded 43.7 degree which is two notches above normal and Allahabad recorded 46 degree Celsius. The heat wave has forced the people to remain indoors as all the roads of the city wore a deserted look. People came out with their faces covered with scarf.
The torrid spell of weather had claimed 7 lives in the past 24 hours in Hamirpur, Banda, Gonda, Bahraich and Mahoba districts. The total death toll has climbed to 28 since the onset of summer. The tremendous increase in temperature has also resulted in patients suffering from heat strokes, skin sun burns, blood pressure and depression. Doctors have advised old and children not to move out of their houses after 11 am. “Drink lots of succulent fruit and juices. Keep your body hyderated,” Dr S.K. Pandey, of RMl Hospital said.
