The 6-year-old son of a businessman was kidnapped in Maharajganj and the kidnappers demanded Rs 50 lakh for the safe release of the boy.
The cops, who initially took the incident lightly, registered a case and formed four teams to safely rescue the minor from the clutches of his kidnappers. The help of the Special Task Force (STF) has been sought to ensure safe release of the boy.
According to reports, Krishna Gupta, a resident of gram sabha Banspar Tola Bhunapur under Sadar Kotwali, lodged a report at the local police station, stating that last Wednesday, his 6-year-old son Piyush was playing in the garden of the village from where some people took him away. He said that when they noticed that the boy was missing, they launched a search for him but could not trace him anywhere.
The local police first took the incident lightly and asked the family to look for the boy themselves even when the family said that some motorcycle-borne miscreants were spotted on the fateful day and they could have kidnapped the boy.
The police, however, swung into action when the family received a letter through which they were asked to pay a ransom of Rs 50 lakh for the safe release of the boy. The letter also stated that a person from the village was supporting the kidnappers.
Maharajganj Superintendent of Police Pradeep Gupta said that they were seriously investigating all aspects of the kidnapping.
“Four teams are already on the job and we will recover the boy safely,” Gupta told media persons.
