In a tragic mishap, five persons of a family, including two women and as many girls, died when a house collapsed in incessant rain in Kurra area of Mainpuri district on Friday night.
The police registered a case and sent the bodies for post-mortem.
According to a report, Sarvesh Kumar was living with his family in his old dilapidated house in Aanoha hamlet of Kurra for the last several years.
On Friday night, the house suddenly collapsed due to incessant rain over the family members.
While Virma Devi (70), Mina Devi (35), her son Rahul (17), and daughters Shashi (14) and Shivani (9) died on the spot, the other family members were somehow rescued and
admitted to the district hospital.
District Magistrate VK Panwar, who visited the spot, later announced a compensation of Rs 1.5 lakh to the kin of the deceased.
