The five IPS officers facing inquiry into allegations of corruption made against them by their colleague Vaibhav Krishna, are likely to get clean chit as the Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted to probe into the charges has reportedly found no evidence against them.
The officers facing the charges include Ajay Pal Sharma, Sudhir Kumar Singh, Ganesh Saha, Rajiv Narain Mishra and Himanshu Kumar.
It may be mentioned here that a report published in ‘The Pioneer’ on Saturday mentioned the name of SSP of Etawah, Akash Tomar, as one of the five IPS officers facing corruption charges. However, his name is not in the list of officers against whom corruption charges were levelled.
Meanwhile, sources confirmed that the 3-member SIT constituted under senior IPS officer DG (Vigilance) Hitesh Chandra Awasthi has completed the enquiry. The two other members of the SIT are IG (STF) Amitabh Yash and Jal Nigam MD Vikas Gothalwal.
The sources said that the SIT submitted its findings to the state government, giving clean chit to all the five IPS officers — Ajay Pal Sharma, Sudhir Kumar Singh, Ganesh Saha, Rajiv Narain Mishra and Himanshu Kumar.
Four of these officers were shifted out from districts so that they could not influence the probe. Now, once the probe report is made public, these officers are likely to again get prime postings.
The SIT was instructed to complete the investigation within 15 days.
The sources further said that Vaibhav Krishna would continue to remain suspended as enquiry against him is still pending.
He was suspended after the objectionable video that went viral against Krishna when he was SSP of Noida and it turned out to be authentic. The forensic lab in Gujarat submitted its reports on the viral video of his chat with a woman, authenticating it.
Krishna was suspended for the violation of Officer Conduct Rules. A departmental inquiry was also ordered against him. ADG Lucknow Zone SN Sabat is investigating the matter and he will submit the report as soon as possible.
Krishna had earlier said that the chat and videos were fake and had lodge a report against unknown persons for making the video viral.
In his FIR, Krishna alleged that the video were fake and were made by some IPS officers and journalists to malign his image as he had initiated action against them for their corrupt practices.
He had also named five IPS officers in a report submitted to the chief minister on November 26 last year seeking appropriate action.
