At least 45.85 lakh metric tonnes of wheat have been purchased till now by various wheat purchase centres of the state under the Price Support Scheme. last year, only 30.07 lakh metric tonnes of wheat was purchased during the corresponding period.
According to the information received from the Food and Civil Supplies Department, as many as 9,12,050 farmers have been benefitted till now under the scheme and payment of Rs. 7936.31 crore has been made to them through RTGS. About 92 percent of purchase has been made so far against the set target of 50 lakh metric tonne.
