With the Khakhi being found as most soft target for the criminals in the State, some cattle smugglers to make a safe exit after committing the crime had hit the police jeep critically injuring all the four occupants in Meerut. The sensational incident was reported late on Wednesday night.
The injured cops were admitted in hospital and efforts were on to identify the cattle smugglers and subsequently to lay a trap on them. It may be mentioned that the cops is still in groping in dark about the whereabouts of listed gangster, Amit aka Bhura, who managed to escape from police custody in Bagpat with the help of his cohorts, who also looted two AK-47 assaulted rifle and a SlR, on last Monday morning. According to reports from Meerut, a police team comprising of Sub-Inspector, Pinki and three other police constables - Rahul, Atul and Ramesh, were on patrol duty late on Wednesday night when they were tipped off that some criminals who were engaged in cattle theft, were forcibly taking some cattle from Civil lines area near Bhagat line in Meerut.
They rushed to the spot and found the information true. The criminals after finding the police tried to escape but the cops made an attempt to intercept them by putting their vehicle on middle of the road. However, the criminals challenged the cops and hit their vehicle of cops jeep in which all the four policemen were injured. later firing in air to terrorise the local public, the criminals freely escaped from the spot along with the stolen cattle. Reports said that the injured cops somehow passed on the information to their bosses who rushed to the spot and shifted them to hospital. They also flashed the message on wireless sets and directed to seal the city limits. later they launched a massive search operation but more than hour of efforts went in vein as the criminals managed to gave the cops a slip.
