Tension prevailed in Moradabad after night-long rescue operation of the municipal corporation failed to trace the four persons who fell in an under-construction sewage system on Saturday.
The district authorities summoned experts from the Army on Sunday to assist the municipal corporation in finding out the four persons who are feared to have drowned.
Sources in the police said that four persons, including a woman, fell in an under-construction sewage system in Galsahid area during heavy downpour on Saturday evening.
A private contractor is laying the new sewer line in the locality. As there was heavy rain, those who fell in the dug up trenches could not be traced by the divers.
Meanwhile, people assembled at the spot and started protest, raising slogans against the Government and the district authorities. A large contingent of police force has been deployed in the area and senior district and police officials are monitoring the rescue work.
