Claiming that the Bharatiya Janata Party regime had provided 4.50 lakh jobs in the government sector in Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that the unemployment graph had dropped sharply in the last four-and-a-half years and the present unemployment rate was just 4.5 per cent.
The chief minister was speaking at a function in Lucknow wherein he distributed appointment letters to 2,846 lecturers and assistant teachers selected through Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) under Mission Employment.
At the function, the chief minister donned the role of a teacher, dishing out advice to the new teachers.
“Teachers should always keep on learning. If you do your work honestly, you will get the appreciation of students and if you ignore them, your students will curse you. You must fulfill your responsibilities with sincerity. There is a need to build confidence among the new generation and teachers should take a personal interest in every student,” he said.
Yogi Adityanath further said, “During your schooling days, you must have adopted the education policy of 1986, but from 2022, you will be adopting a new education policy. Education should not be just bookish knowledge, but new innovation should be brought in. This has been taken care of in the new education policy and you all have to prepare for the same. You need to be aware of the government education policy so that you may encourage and guide the youth in the right direction. Many times, students complain of not getting scholarships and it will be your responsibility to inform them about it,” he said.
Describing teachers as the building blocks of society and the nation, the chief minister said that teachers must realise the great responsibility of preparing a generation which is able to lead the nation in the near future.
Exhorting the teachers to return to the golden days of government and aided secondary schools, Yogi said, “The challenge before these educational institutions is to save their identity. Teachers have to come forward in order to change the image,” he said.
Reiterating fair and transparent recruitment process in Uttar Pradesh, the chief minister said that every selection process was marred by corruption before 2017.
“Youths were desperate and hopeless and hence forced to migrate. The entire recruitment system was deeply engrossed in dishonesty and nepotism. There are many of you who must have appeared in many competitive exams. Despite being eligible, you could not get selected due to corruption. Our government has controlled the process making it transparent and its effects are visible. Now the situation is that no one needs recommendations to get an appointment letter which is given on merit. In 2021, the unemployment rate of Uttar Pradesh has reduced to 4.1 per cent because of the transparency in providing employment,” he said
Speaking on infrastructure development in the state, Yogi said, “It is the result of hard work of the government that Uttar Pradesh has emerged as the second-largest economy among states of India. Many investors are now making huge investments in UP. Investment-friendly policies have enabled 1.61 crore youth to get employment in the private sector.”
Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma, who also holds and portfolio of Secondary Education department, Basic Education Minister Satish Chandra Dwivedi, Minister of State Gulab Devi, Chief Secretary RK Tiwari, Additional Chief Secretary (Secondary Education) Aradhana Shukla were also present in the programme.
