37 UP districts become free of coronavirus

The strategy to control Covid-19 cases has started bearing fruit in Uttar Pradesh, with 37 districts being declared Corona-free even as no death was reported due to the viral infection in the last 24 hours.

Only 70 new cases have been reported from 38 districts in the last 24 hours - the lowest in eight months of the pandemic.

The number of new Corona cases in Uttar Pradesh went below 100 for the first time and no fatality was recorded in any district in the last 24 hours.  With this, the state’s active case count has also come down  to 3000.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s strategy in dealing with the pandemic could be gauged from the fact the state achieved a recovery rate of 98 percent, surpassing the national average.

While UP became the first state in the country to vaccinate more than 6 lakh people, surveillance teams in the state covered 18 crore population, i.e. 85 percent of UP’s population - the highest in India and other countries.

UP also became the only state to carry out the exercise of contact tracing very effectively and succeeded in breaking the infection chain.

To minimise possible damage that the virus could cause in future, the CM carried out every exercise for the people of the state. Surveillance teams were set up, Integrated COVID-19 Control and Command Center was established in every district to monitor patients in home isolation and ‘Mera COVID Kendra’ application was also launched.

UP practically outdid other states as far as strategy to combat the viral infection is concerned. On March 3 last year, when the first Corona case surfaced, there was not a single lab in the state for testing, but in a few months, several testing labs were set up across UP. These labs carried out more than 2.80 crore tests in subsequent months.

After the vaccine was launched, officials were told by the CM to carry out vaccination across the state as per the Union government guidelines, stressing that his government was committed to providing quality medical facilities to the public.
