Under the Price Support Scheme, 33.09 lakh metric tonnes of wheat have been purchased so far in the state. Only 19.31 lakh metric tonnes of wheat was purchased last year during the same time period. The wheat purchase is 1.5 times more than that of the last year’s purchase.
According to the information received from the Food and Civil Supplies Department, 89754.59 metric tonnes of wheat have been purchased today in the state. Under the scheme, as many as 604970 farmers have been benefitted and payment of Rs. 5718.01 crore has been made directly to their bank accounts so far. Under the Rabi Purchase Year 2018-19, 66 percent purchase has been made against the wheat purchase target of 50 lakh metric tonnes.
