'' The withdrawal of subsidy in fertilisers by the Centre  Has hiked the price of urea, DAP and other fertilizers by 3 to 4 times ,'' admitted UP Agriculture Minister Anand Singh  told the House.

Turning down the demand of members for subsidy by  the state government on fertilisers, the minister said the financial condition of the state is not such to give subsidy to the farmers on Fertilisers.''

But we have asked the fertiliser companies to reduce the price from the Maximum Retail Price(MRP).    Mr Singh said it is up to the Central government to give subsidy on Fertiliser.

'' The centre has brought Food Security Act by giving  over Rs one lakh crore of subsidy but it would be a failure as  without Fertilizer subsidy, farmers would face severe financial  problem to grow their products,'' he claimed.
