In a sensational incident, three youths hurled chilly powder bomb on Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) MlA from Sadar seat Kapil Deo Agarwal in Muzaffarnagar on Monday. The motive for the bizarre attack is not immediately known.
The MlA suffered injuries in his eyes and was immediately rushed to a hospital where doctors said that there was no danger to his eyes.
The police registered a case in this regard and were trying to take help of Close Circuit Television (CCTv) footage to ascertain the identity of the perpetrators.
As per reports, the MlA was meeting local people at his Gandhi Nagar residence on Bhopa Road when three unknown youths on a motorcycle came close to him and threw the chilly powder bomb. The incident sent shock waves and as the people fled, the security personnel fired in the air assuming that the legislator was attacked with a bomb. However, the miscreants managed to flee the scene after the crime.
While the police claimed that it was yet to identify the perpetrators, sources said that the MlA’s staff have disclosed their identity and the police wanted to nab them and extract the motive for the attack before disclosing anything.
