After Uttar Pradesh cabinet minister Swami Prasad Maurya resigned from the Yogi Adityanath cabinet, three dissident BJP lawmakers and supporters of Maurya tendered their resignation from the party on Tuesday afternoon.
Bharatiya Janata Party legislators Brajesh Prajapati (Tindwari seat in Banda), Bhagwati Prasad Sagar (Bilhaur in Kannauj) and Roshan Lal Verma (Tilhar in Shahjahanpur) put in their papers and conveyed it to the BJP brass.
“We have sent our resignation in support of Maurya to the BJP high command. Swami Prasad Maurya is our leader and we will act as per his direction,” Roshan Lal Verma told media persons in Lucknow on Tuesday afternoon.
Incidentally, none of these lawmakers have so far joined the Samajwadi Party as all of them are waiting for Swami Prasad Maurya's decision.
“If Maurya ji joins the SP we will join with him,” Verma said
All the MLAs, who had come to the Bharatiya Janata Party from Bahujan Samaj Party before the 2017 assembly polls, are expected to join the SP now.
Recently, BJP MLA from Nanpara assembly constituency in Bahraich, Madhuri Verma, and Radha Krishna Sharma from Bilsi assembly seat of Budaun had joined the Samajwadi Party.
