Three people, including a brother duo, were arrested by the Muzaffarnagar police after they threatened to behead a burqa-clad woman near a liquor shop. The police swung into action after a video went viral on social media.
According to reports, two burqa-clad women were apparently on their way to a liquor shop when Baku aka Shahnawaz, Adil Ahmed, and his brother Sajid Ahmed stopped one of them and started questioning her.
The trio threatened her with dire consequences if she was found near the liquor shop. The two-minute video was recorded by a bystander and shared on social media.
In the purported video, one of the men could be heard arguing with the woman, “Why are you buying alcohol, you do not know me, I have been to prison many times on the same charges. I will behead you right now.”
As the second woman tried to intervene, the man continued, “Do you think beer is fine, I will thrash both of you even if I am jailed. You don’t know I have been to jail five to seven times.”
“Why are you buying alcohol here, you do not know me, I have been to prison many times,” one of the men could be heard saying in the footage.
As the man continued asking a woman about the contact details of her family members, the other two joined in and let the women go after ‘warning’ her.
The incident happened on Sunday night, according to DSP Vikram Ayush. The woman has not filed any police complaint. However, the three men were arrested after authorities took note of the incident and will be produced before a magistrate.
