Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav said that the 2017 Assembly polls will give a new direction to Indian politics as it will help people to choose between workers and shirkers.

“A whisper campaign is going on against the Samajwadi Party government which has delivered on all fronts. A party, whose government failed to fulfill promises, is spreading canard against the SP regime,” Yadav said while addressing members of Samajwadi Yuvjan Sabha and Samajwadi Chatra Sabha in lucknow on Thursday.

He said that the SP has given a new direction to politics based on commitment to help the weaker sections of the society. The coming Assembly polls will challenge this spirit and now, the onus is on the youth to keep the flag of SP flying high,” he said.

“Mulayam Singh Yadav motivated youth to join politics which did wonders in 2012 when the SP swept the elections. The youth will have to replicate that performance in 2017and the party is looking towards you. Fulfill the aspirations of Neta ji (Mulayam Singh Yadav),” he said.

In his 35 minute speech, Yadav criticised the BJP saying it has failed to fulfill promises of 'achche din' and took a dig at the BSP saying the then government was busy in erecting statues of Dalit icons.

“These parties are spreading canards against the SP regiume. Go, spread out across the state and educate people about pro-people steps that this government has taken. If we can apprise voters about our achievements, no one can stop the SP from forming the next government in UP,” he said.
