Member of fairer sex continued to be targeted in the State with more cases of honour killing, rape were reported on Monday.
In a suspected case of honour killing, a 17-year-old girl was shot dead allegedly by her three brothers who also set her body on fire for eloping with a youth in Khair area of Aligarh. Reports said that Devendri, who reportedly left her home on June 14 with a youth, returned on Monday morning and was confronted by her three brothers who allegedly shot her dead and set her body on fire in Sabapur village. However, no one from the family approached the police to register a complaint. local police which get the information through neighbours said that they will get the case registered in this regard and will arrest the accused.
Meanwhile in Sitapur, a teenaged girl was allegedly raped by a man in his 30s in the Reosa area on last Thursday. According to reports, the incident took place on Thursday when the 16-year-old girl had gone to her relative’s place. One Shaheen allegedly locked the girl in a room following which one Mahfooz went there and raped her. Mahfooz also allegedly threatened the girl with dire consequences in case she spoke of her ordeal to anybody. A case has been register in this regard and both the accused were arrested.
In another case reported from Sonebhadra, two policemen allegedly tried to molest a 50-year-old woman. The woman in her complaint to police has alleged that the two constables - Amrendra Pratap Yadav and Anuj Singh - entered house in an inebriated state and tried to molest her. However, the woman’s family member and her neighbours
rushed to the spot on hearing her screams and caught hold of the duo. later local public thrashed both the cops before handing them over to police. Taking note of the incident, Superintendent of Police, Ram Bahadur Yadav has sent SHO Rampur Surendra Pratap Singh and the two accused constables to police lines. The SP said a departmental inquiry has also been initiated into the incident.
In Saharanpur, 30-year-old Mohamed Taqi aka Sonu, hailing from Peer Wali Gali under Mandi police station, has reportedly raped a 1-year-old girl on Sunday evening. The accused was arrested and the victim was sent for medical examination. Similarly in Mahoba, 14-year-old Savita (name changed), a resident of Thatherwa hamlet of Kulpahad, was kidnapped by Pushpendra, and taken to local Junior High School where she was raped on Sunday evening. Pushpendra was arrested by the local police. lastly in Azamgarh, 28-year-old resident of Sitapur hamlet, was raped by local resident identified as Chandrashekhar.
