In a bizarre case, a 16-year-old girl was sacrificed to appease a deity by her parents in Kannauj. The sensational incident came to light after the victim's body was recovered in the fields on Wednesday evening. The parents were detained for quizzing.
As per reports, the Priprauli police station personnel in Kannauj recovered a body of a girl with her head chopped off and lying at some distance. Thevictim was later identified as Kavita (16) of Madhonagar area of Talgram.
After preliminary probe, the cops detained the victims parents - Mahaweer and Sheela.
During interrogation, Sheela said that last Sunday Mahaveer took Kavita and her to tantrik Krishna Kumar Sharma at Annapurna Mata Temple in Thatiya locality. There Sharma took them under a tree and asked them to close their eyes and performed a puja. When Sheela opened her eyes, she found her daughter missing. Upon enquiring about Kavita, the tantrik asked her to retunr home assuring that her daughter would join her later.
Sheela said that when Kavita did not return, she informed her parents and searched for her everywhere. The cops later arrested Sharma, who confessed to killing Kavita but denied making any human sacrifice. Further investigations are on in the matter.
