158 more projects to be launched in December To generate 10 lakh jobs in UP

Uttar Pradesh is set to organise the second groundbreaking ceremony for the formal launch of 158 projects entailing investments of around Rs 1 lakh crore in December.

These projects are expected a create around 10 lakh jobs in the state.

Earlier, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had made an announcement on this line during the One District, One Product (ODOP) Summit in the state capital in July.

“A round table will be held in Lucknow on November 2-3 with investors and industrialists setting up 158 projects worth Rs 1 lakh crore for the proposed groundbreaking ceremony in Lucknow in December. Directives have been issued to officials to meet the investors and resolve their problems, if any,” an official spokesman of the government said here.

Chief Secretary Anup Chandra Pandey said that officials had been asked to issue letters of comfort to the investors and give other clearances on time so that the investors did not face and problems.

“We have asked officials to make spot inspections of the projects which were launched in the first phase (in July) and hold a special three-day campaign to resolve their problems,” Pandey said.

Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) for the projects that are to be launched in the second groundbreaking ceremony were signed by the government during the UP Investors’ Summit. Government officials are meeting representatives of shortlisted companies to make the programme a success. The opposition, however, has termed the function a “political gimmick”.

Samajwadi Party leader and MLC Rajpal Kashyap said as the 2019 Lok Sabha polls were near, the Bharatiya Janata Party was using political gimmick to confuse voters.

“Everyone knows the ground reality. Projects launched by the previous SP government are being repackaged by the present regime and people of the state are aware of this,” Kashyap said

The Congress also echoed similar views, saying that the people were fed up with false promises and gimmicks.

“The ground reality is different and people of all sections of society are suffering due to the faulty policies of the Centre and the state government,” a senior Congress leader said.

However, refuting the allegations, BJP spokesman Shalabh Mani Tripathi said the event would once again prove the “faith of investors in the Yogi Adityanath government”.
