Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday announced to appoint over 12,400 youth of the state for the post of assistant teachers in state run primary schools. The Chief Minister was speaking at Gorakhpur University. Yogi Adityanath distributed appointment letters to 858 primary teachers of Deoria, Basti, Siddarthnagar, Maharajganj and Bahriach.
“More than 12,400 youth from the state will be given appointment letters for the post of assistant teachers. They will help in the development of the state and in building the future of the students. I would like to congratulate every one of them,” he said. Yogi said that another recruitment drive for assistant teachers would be held later in the month.
The additional appointments are expected to solve the shortage of teachers in government-run schools as well as generate employment among the youth. Chief Minister said appointment letters to all 12,460 teachers will be distributed by June 15. He said the process has begun with the distribution of the letters to the teachers of Gorakhpur, Basti, Devi Patan and Faizabad divisions.
The state government has started the process of the appointment of the primary school teachers as per the direction of the Allahabad high court. The process of appointment of 12,460 teachers was initiated during the previous Samajwadi party regime in November 2016 and the counseling process was completed in March 2017. Several candidates had challenged the process in the Allahabad high court, which had stayed the process. The high court decided the matter in November 2017 and had directed the state government to complete the process of the appointment of teachers in four weeks.
The state government besides the appointment of 12,400 teachers has also set the ball rolling for the recruitment of 68,500 assistant teachers for the state run primary schools. An official of the basic education department said that the state government is committed for improving the standards of education in primary schools and appointment of over 68,000 teachers will go a long way in improving the quality of education in the primary schools.
