Tragedy struck Mirzjapur when a tractor trolley was hit by a truck near Krishi Vigyan Kendra in Marihan area leading to the death of 10 persons while four others were injured early Monday morning.
A tractor-trolley carrying a family was returning from a religious function at Sheetala Dham temple early Monday morning when they were rammmed into by a truck (UP31BN-3570). While five persons died on the spot, five others succumbed to injuries in the district hospital.
The deceased were identified as Munni Devi (55), Manju Devi (35), Akhilesh Patel (14), Gudia (12), Savita (40), Anita Devi (38), Murari Yadav (8), Neha Patel(17) from Marihan locality, Kalawati(55) of Ghorawal in Sonebhadra and driver Mohamed Yunus (25) of Bhojipura (Moradabad).
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath condoled the deaths in the accident and expressed sympathies to the bereaved families. Wishing the injured speedy recovery, the CM also directed officials to ensure prompt and adequate treatment for them.
The state government also announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each to the kin of deceased and Rs 25,000 to the injured on Monday evening.
In another mishap at Allahabad, constable Pushpraj Singh of Meja, who was posted at Reserve Police lines in Fatehpur, was returning to Fatehpur join duty when his motorcycle was hit by a DCM Truck ((UP70DD-1711) in Thariyaon police station area of Fatehpur on Monday morning. The injured constable was rushed to a hospital where he was pronounced dead upon arrival. A case was registered and efforts were being made to nab the DCM driver, who abandoned the vehicle and escaped.
Elsewhere in Rampur, two persons were killed when a police jeep hit their motorcycle in the wee hours of Monday.
A speeding Bolero Jeep returning after raiding a criminal’s house in Rampur early Monday morning, hit a motorcycle in which both the riders died on the spot at Milak area. The police team comprising of sub-inspector Pramod Kumar, constables Sartaj, Yameen, Jaiprakash were also injured in the accident and admitted in a local hospital.
In Pratapgarh, at least two people, including a woman, were killed and 12 others injured when the SUV they were travelling in vehicle was hit by a tractor in Kunda area on Sunday night. The SUV was carrying 14 people when the mishap took place and left driver Pramod Kumar (28) and Sadhna Devi (18) dead on the spot. The injured were admitted to a hospital, where their condition was stated to be stable. An FIR was registered in this regard and bodies were sent for autopsy.
