Around 1,170 Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) workers will volunteer to work at the vaccination centres for the vaccination drive for people in the age group of 18-44 years commencing in Uttar Pradesh from Tuesday.

An ABVP delegation, which met Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath here on Monday, handed over the list of the organisation’s volunteers and said the active participation of ABVP would lure youth to participate willingly in the Covid vaccination drive.

ABVP’s zonal organisation secretary, eastern Uttar Pradesh, Ramesh Gariya, said in a statement here on Monday that ABVP karyakartas were doing screening in villages and were also regularly distributing food packets, sanitisers, masks and other essential things necessary to combat the virus. He said the ABVP workers were making people aware about the vaccination drive and benefits of the vaccine in villages so that they also turned up in large numbers and supported this drive.

ABVP’s all-India state universities convener Rahul Valmiki said, “In the ongoing vaccination drive for people above 18 years of age, ABVP karyakartas are helping as volunteers at vaccination centres in 18 districts by dispelling myths and taboos being spread in society.”
