On the last day of electioneering for the final phase of parliamentary elections, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said the expiry date of the alliance between Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party was drawing closer and on May 23 it would end with both parties blaming each other for the defeat.
“After May 23, SP president Akhilesh Yadav (Babua) will blame BSP supremo Mayawati (Bua) for buying votes while Bua will say that Babua is the king of goons. She will also blame SP for its failure to transfer votes which resulted in the loss,” Yogi said while addressing a series of rallies in eastern Uttar Pradesh.
Yogi addressed rallies at Bansdih in Ballia and Kauriram and Sahjanwa in Gorakhpur that go to polls in the last phase on May 19.
“Those who divide the country in the name of caste and religion have discriminated against the people. They did not allot houses to the poor and destroyed the social structure of the country by dividing people on the basis of caste and religion,” he said.
Highlighting the achievements of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Yogi Adityanath said the previous governments never thought about development of the country but Modiji always worked for the betterment of the poor, the farmers, the youth and the women through several welfare schemes.
“Our government provided houses, toilets, free cooking gas and electricity connections, and offered several other benefits to crores of poor families without any discrimination on the lines of caste and creed,” he said.
On the work done by Prime Minister Modi for women, Yogi said, “A lot of work has been done to uplift the status of women and improve their security. Modi has also worked for Muslim women by freeing them from triple talaq, which was only possible during this government.”
Attacking the Congress, Yogi said that even former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi had admitted that out of every 100 rupees his government sent for the poor, only 10 rupees reached the beneficiaries while the rest 90 rupees were taken by Congress’ middlemen.
“To curb this, Prime Minister Modi opened Jan Dhan bank accounts of every poor and now they are getting the money of welfare schemes in their accounts without any role of a third person,” he said.
Yogi said: “This is new and corruption-free India which was corruption-laced at the time of Congress.”
He appealed to voters to vote for Bharatiya Janata Party because every vote to BJP would strengthen the hands of Narendra Modi at the Centre.
Campaigning in the eastern UP ended at 6 pm on Friday and the 13 constituencies of this region in UP will go to polls on May 19.
