“Sir, I am still alive...”
These are the words of Health department employee Rajendra Shukla, who has been making rounds of offices for the last three months for his salary after the department record showed him “dead”.
Reports said that Rajendra Shukla was to be relieved from district hospital (now medical college) in Deoria, for Sadar hospital in Gorakhpur following his transfer. Much to the shock of Shukla, the Health department employees, instead of showing him relieved after transfer, mentioned him as ‘dead’ in the records.
After Shukla’s salary was stopped, he registered his complaint and grievances through e-mails to the chief minister, principal secretary of Health department and health minister, but no solution has been found yet.
Chief Medical Officer Dr Rajesh Jha and medical college spokesperson Dr HK Mishra claimed that the error will be rectified soon. The CMO said that some technical mistakes had been made while filling the information in the portal for which a letter had been written to correct them. An investigation team has also been formed, he added.
The CMO said that recently manual bills started being prepared and some people were seen dead in it. Soon their details would be mentioned on the portal and then everything would be fine.
It is noteworthy that Rajendra Shukla has been working as sister incharge in District Hospital Deoria (now medical college) for the last several years. When the medical college opened here, gradually the employees working in the district hospital started being relieved. In the same sequence, Rajendra, working on the post of sister incharge, was also relieved from Deoria. After this he joined the directorate, from where he was transferred to the post of ward master at Sadar hospital in Gorakhpur.
Rajendra also started doing daily duty but when he came to collect his salary, he came to know that he was shown ‘dead’ in the documents. Because of this his salary has not been released.
This error was committed by the staff of the medical college principal in Deoria. An employee tampered with the record and marked Shukla as ‘dead’ in the portal.
