On a whirlwind tour of eastern Uttar Pradesh, Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the Sansad Khel Mahakumbh in Basti and claimed that the Bharatiya Janata Party government has made sports a way of life by integrating sports with development.

He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had opened the treasury for the development of Purvanchal and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had made UP number one in every scheme.

“In Saubhagya Yojana, UP is at number one position and the state is at number one in distributing gas cylinders and also tops the chart in the distribution of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana,” Shah said while addressing a rally at Shivharsh PG College Grounds in Basti on Friday.

“India has become the second-largest economy under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. But, there is still a lot to be done. The BJP needs the blessings of the people in the coming assembly elections so that the dreams of the people could be fulfilled,” he said.

On this occasion, the Union home minister along with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated projects worth Rs 200 crore.

“On one hand new projects are being launched while on the other Khel Mahakumbh is being organised. This shows the holistic development, which connects every youth of the district with development,” Shah said.

The Union home minister also praised Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, saying that development was taking shape in Uttar Pradesh in every way.

“Modi ji completed the work in seven years which was not done in the last 70 years. The Modi government gave Rs 2.98 crore to 36,000 farmers,” he said.
