This refers to the editorial “Road to peace, progress” (August 15). To calm and pacify the irate youth of Kashmir is the need of the hour. Of course, it is difficult to do this while also trying to control the tense situation arising out of cross-border terrorism sponsored by Pakistan, which is provoking the youth.
It is responsibility of the elected representatives of the valley to appeal for peace and persuade their respective constituencies which have been recalcitrant to desist from violence. Also, responsibility rests with both the State and Union Government to take steps to restore normalcy.
