Youth leaders fail

Sir — Swami Vivekananda had once observed: “Nothing can be achieved without some kind of sacrifice. It is usually the young who have the strength of mind and will to be able to make sacrifices to achieve their goals.” Our young are doing a brilliant job in all areas of activity except politics.

It was hoped that the younger lot of politicians would be successful in cleaning politics of the dirt that has enveloped it and use politics to serve the people in the real sense. But many have failed to do so.

These young politicians have shown that they are as crafty and sinister in their political conduct as the many others who have been in social life for decades. They are ready to play the politics of caste and religion.

They are willing to indulge in appeasement politics. They too have become a part of the corrupt system that rules our political ethos. The younger lot of politicians have opted themselves into the very mess they promised to clean.
