Yeddyurappa has harmed the BJP and his own self

The Karnataka debacle should indeed be a wake-up call to the BJP and leaders like Mr BS Yeddyurappa too. The BJP should have acted against the tainted former Chief Minister promptly so that his successor had sufficient time to establish himself to lead the electoral battle. Mr Yeddyurappa could at the maximum spoil the BJP's prospects, but in the process he has reduced himself to being a spent force.
His calculations to tie up with the Congress and be a king-maker, has misfired. The Congress made corruption in Karnataka the main issue in the election, and now it cannot go soft on Mr Yeddyurappa. He may find it difficult to keep his folks intact without power till the next election. He could face the fate of the likes of Mr Keshubhai Patel in Gujarat. Mr Yeddyurappa should not feel he has achieved something nice by killing his own baby.
