Sir — This refers to the report, “Gir ‘pride’ soars as turf doubles to 22,000 sq km” (May 5). Among other things, I have appreciated The Pioneer for its reports on environment and wildlife issues. Hence, it is disappointing to see blatant follies like the one on the first page, wherein a picture of African lions has been used for a story on the lions in Gir. In the past too, there have been similar misrepresentations. For example, photos of African elephants were carried with stories on Asian elephants, and African rhinos with stories on the Indian rhino in Kaziranga. I hope such misrepresentations will not happen again.
