Sir — Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray is reported to have said that Mr Narendra Modi should have quit as the Chief Minister of Gujarat after being nominated as the BJP’s prime ministerial candidate.
Mr Thackeray must remember that the BJP has only nominated Mr Modi for the top post. Mr Modi is still the Chief Minister and will become Prime Minister if the BJP wins the lok Sabha election with a majority.
Considering the creditable work done in Gujarat by Mr Modi, it is understandable that he talks of Gujarat in his speeches. That does not mean he has no vision for the country. Indeed, he has often spoken on issues that must be tackled nationally.
