World must unite to combat terror threat

This refers to the editorial, “Silly quibble over names” (July 4). British Prime Minister David Cameron’s request to the BBC to stop using the term ‘Islamic State’ with reference to the terror group, is silly. How does it matter whether it is called the Islamic State or whether Isis or Isil is usedIJ The cruelty and inhuman behaviour that the group has been indulging in, will not change with a change in its name. The Islamic State will deal with its opponents as ruthlessly as it has been doing for a long time now.

The US and Europe must concentrate on ways and means to prevent further advances of the Islamic State to other continents and countries. Presently, world powers are concentrating only on air strikes against the Islamic State. This is totally inadequate. The situation demands that the entire world unite and send in a common ground force to combat the Islamic State and finish it for good.
