With Tharoor, Congress does not need enemies

This refers to the editorial, “Insulting a nationalist” (March 23). It is beyond comprehension how Congress leader Shashi Tharoor, a man with a sound background  high class education, former senior UN bureaucrat and UPA Cabinet Minister  could indulge in the bizarre attempt to compare freedom-fighter Bhagat Singh with a boyish, upstart, Jawaharlal Nehru University Students Union president Kanhaiya Kumar , who seems to specialise in rabble-rousing slogans.

Kanhaiya Kumar is primarily a media creation  his fame is only six-week old. He is out on interim bail for six months after his arrest, following his participation in an anti-India event at JNU on February 9.

Yet, Shashi Tharoor, while addressing a gathering at the university, went overboard to please his young audience, acclaiming Bhagat Singh as the “Kanhaiya Kumar of his times”. With leaders like Tharoor, the Congress does not need enemies to hasten its further marginalisation.
