With netas like these, who needs enemies

This refers to the article, “Valley's separatist-sounding netas” (July 1) by Hari Om. The writer has aptly described the bitter ground reality in Kashmir today. Hurriyat separatists and the so-called mainstream political parties and their leaders, more often than not, speak in a similar language and brazenly promote anti-India, pro-Pakistan causes in the Valley.

It is evident that Kashmiri youths are looking for jobs and entrepreneurship, for which they are travelling to various towns and cities across the country to enhance their skills. But separatist leaders like Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, and even Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, instead of addressing the concerns of higher education, employment, better infrastructure, and an environment which encourages enterprise and investment from leading corporates, prefer to hark on dialogue with Pakistan to settle all issues. Their interest in development seems secondary. We have had talks with Pakistan for several decades now; where have we reachedIJ
