Sir — This refers to the opinion piece, “let guns do the talking" (May 28) by Chandan Mitra. There have been numerous attempts to bring the Maoists to the table for a meaningful discussion and resolve the issue of Red menace, to no avail.
The time has come to show them their place by unleashing a stronger double-edged war against them. One concurs with the writer’s observation that certain leaders in these tribal belts do not want their people to grow, prosper and see development, because that would erode their own authority and sway over them.
It is also important not to politicise the issue, as the Congress is trying to do. Earlier, it was CRPF jawans and other security personnel that were targeted, and now the politicians are in the Maoists’ line of fire. If we fail to act tough now, there may be a bigger price to pay in future.
