This refers to the editorial, “Tricolour amidst white” (July 14). With three victories, this was indeed a special Wimbledon for India. Sania Mirza who has already won the mixed doubles titles at the Australian Open, the French Open and the US Open, has now added this prestigious title to her kitty. She has shown her class and determination amidst all the controversies and injuries, which speaks volume about her grit.

Champion leander Paes is like wine: He keeps getting better with age, having won his 16th grand slam title at the age of 42. He is an epitome of fitness and endurance, and undoubtedly one of the greatest tennis player India has produced till date.

The young Sumit Nagal, trained and mentored by another Indian tennis great, Mahesh Bhupati, has also made us proud. He is a budding talent like Yuki Bhambri, Rohan Bopanna and Somdev Devvarman, all of whom have great potential. Indian tennis seems to be in good hands.
