Sir — If the US were to pay heed to the international requests, pleas, memoranda and good counsel, many of the problems in the world would not have existed or would have been solved!
But one must add that the visa ban has not diminished the Gujarat Chief Minister’s stature. And the recent ‘letter episode’ too will in no way undermine his growing influence or diminish his popularity in India or abroad.
The US imposed the ban for its own reasons and will lift it when it wants. It is strange that BJP president Rajnath Singh visits the US and tries to convince the US Government to reconsider the visa ban issue. Even more ridiculous is 65 MPs petitioning US President Barack Obama to keep the ban. Will these MPs continue to petition the US Government to keep the ban even if Mr Modi becomes the Prime Minister of IndiaIJ Meanwhile, Mr Modi has a lot to do at home than worry about ‘clearance and acceptance’ from the US.
