Sir — This refers to the report, “Death for rapists, justice for braveheart” (September 14). The nation has heaved a sigh of relief at the Saket fast-track court awarding capital punishment to all the four criminals in the December 16 gang rape case, in record time.
Though the hanging of these criminals will not bring back a lost life, the punishment will definitely work as a strong deterrent (if executed). One hopes that hereafter there will be a decline in the rate of crimes against women, which is peaking presently.
