Sir — This refers to the editorial, “RSS’s progressive face” (March 15). Riding on its dress code, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh has perhaps initiated for the better, a nobler view of the status of women in our society. It has re-asserted the abiding ethos of elevating women to a high pedestal, as rooted in our lore. This will have much greater impact than merely switching to full pants. The RSS’s traditional anathema for reservation too has emerged in louder hues, to become a gradual movement to ease out a policy and philosophy, anachronistic with the one predicated on merit.
It is far more sane to create larger prosperity for all than expend energy in dividing a shrinking quantum of it, through unending and fractious claims, on one basis or the other.
