Sir — This refers to the editorial, “Britain left high and dry” (June 12). British Prime Minister Theresa May’s gamble of advancing the elections by three years backfired big time. Her party, Conservative Party, has returned to the House of commons with 13 seats lesser than what it has in 2015 and is now on the mercy of support from other parties. Though May has vowed to form a Government and lead Brexit negotiations, labour party’s Jeremy Corbyn has offered to form the minority Government but without any deals with anyone.
How the negotiations shape up only time will tell. But what is sure is that Britain may not have an upper hand in negotiating with other European countries. And now since May is on weaker footing, and some of her own party colleagues are not her side, she will have very tough time ahead.
