We must be spiritually rooted in Vedic dharma

This refers to the article, “Culture is the root of Indian nationhood” (June 12) by Sandhya Jain. Former President Pranab Mukherjee's accepance of the invitation to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s (RSS) event created uproar and upheaval among the circles of lutyens intellectuals, secularists and liberals. The Congress lackeys are confused. Mukherjee’s speech has sent a subtle message to all — Congress, the secular brigade and the RSS. The former needs to understand that India' s grand narrative is its spiritual legacy and cultural roots and the latter needs to redefine their cultural nationalism in view of India's pluralism.

India needs to find its cultural roots and legacy and all Indians should feel proud to belong to that. Despite all cultural diversities, there is a strong oneness tied to one string, which remained firm despite all pillage and onslaughts by invaders and plunderers for more than thousand years. Unfortunately, the invasion still continues albeit in a different way. It is now invading our minds and intellects insidiously. We need to guard against these forces. let's strengthen our grand narrative of being spirituality rooted in Vedic dharma.
