Sir — This refers to the article, “A tale of two men from Gandhinagar” (September 14) by Ashok Malik. We are all informed and guided by our biases, but still most people following Indian politics across the divide will agree that Mr Narendra Modi is a deeply polarising figure.
It is easy to dismiss senior BJP leader lK Advani’s current position as ‘personal ambition’, but one feels it is (at least partly) his experiential wisdom from the past three decades that is triggering this apparently inexplicable behaviour.
I am fairly certain that come May 2014, when the brutal reality of electioneering across India has overtaken the social media noise and current euphoria, Mr Advani will be having the last laugh.
